Mental health is a starting to be taken seriously in 2022 due to the global pandemic, and a major increase in awareness from social media accounts like ours, @MensMentalHealth__ and so many more.

Just like many others on Instagram, our mission is to break down societies’ stigmas surrounding mental health, and in particular, the taboo around men and their feelings.

Traditionally, men have been head strong and couldn’t afford to be seen as weak. However, we feel this ideology is extremely old fashioned and is not a fair representation of what a man is allowed to be in the current age. Men are humans just like anyone else, meaning they are allowed to feel human emotions such as fear, stress, anxiety or poor mental health. Similarly, men are allowed to cry, it’s ok not to be ok!

In this blog we’ve highlighted our 5 favourite men's mental health Instagram accounts we’ve encountered who are doing great things to help smash the stigmas around men’s mental health.

Andy Grover

Andy is a fashion Instagramer who has a key mental health message at the heart of everything he does. As well as menswear, he shares content on his life and journey with mental health too. If you’re looking for a great outfit combination or just some like-minded mental health content, check him out.

We love what Katie is doing and urge anyone who wants to see positive daily content to follow her.

Noticeable mentions...

We found it really hard to narrow down just 5 of our favourite accounts so we can’t finish before adding a couple of noticeable mentions too.

All On The Board

Ian Owen

Menfulness

Menfulness are a great organisation based in York, UK. Click here to discover their website.

These are just some of the amazing accounts we have discovered since starting our mental health journey back in 2019, there is so many more out there.

A note to finish on...

While social media can be a great place, it can also be quite harmful to us and our mental health. Sometimes we can feel absent, left out of situations or simply like we’re not having as much fun as everyone else. It’s important to remember, Instagram and other forms of social media are a highlight reel of our lives. We broadcast the best (and sometimes worse) of our lives on there.

If you’re feeling like social media is getting the better of you, treat yourself to a social media detox. We do this all the time and we feel so much better for it.

Sun shining through clouds.
